It’s that time of year, my favorite season: fall! Each season, I share a new tablescape idea with all of you. This time, I challenged myself to create an entirely new tablescape using items I already had. You’ll notice that the chargers, flatware, vase, and candlesticks were all repurposed from the coastal Italian summer tablescape I put together last month.
For this blog post, in addition to offering inspiration, I aim to provide you with a few tips and guidelines for transitioning your summer table decor into fall. So grab yourself a spiced apple mimosa & let’s decorate!
Warm Color Palette // Swap out bright summer colors for warmer tones like deep reds, oranges, yellows, and earthy browns. Incorporate these colors into your tablecloth, placemats, or napkins. I opted for earthy browns and neutral tones. I love how the gold metals and brown tones warm up the space.
Natural Elements // Bring the beauty of the outdoors to your table by adding natural elements. Create a stunning centerpiece using faux or real fall foliage such as maple leaves, branches, pinecones, and acorns. Place them in a vase as a focal point for your table. I opted to use dried stems, acorns, and pumpkins as the centerpiece. You can find really nice, dried bouquets for cheap at HomeGoods! I purchased this bouquet like 3 years ago and it still looks great!
Textures and Layers // Layer your table with different textures, such as textured tablecloths or runners, woven placemats, stoneware, and fabric napkins. You guys know I use these black stone plates every single year for my Halloween tablescapes! The black provides such a nice contrast against the neutral tones throughout the rest of the table.
Candlelight // Enhance the cozy atmosphere with candles. Choose candlesticks or votive candles in autumn scents and colors to provide soft, warm lighting. I am a sucker for candlesticks, as you know! They always make the table feel more elevated.
Seasonal Artwork or Wreaths // Update your wall art with fall-themed pieces like landscapes with autumn foliage or artwork featuring harvest scenes. I personally love switching our day-to-day artwork in the dining room with a small wreath. Using smaller wreaths on walls or mirrors is a fun way to refresh your home’s look.
You can easily apply these principles throughout your home when transitioning your decor from summer to fall! Just remember, these elements are what contribute to a cozy fall home: a warm color palette, natural elements, textures and layers, candles and scents, and seasonal wreaths.
Pinning!! Great tips! I am taking the fall decorations out of the garage this weekend 🙂
