Sometimes it can be difficult to find a great date spot, especially for those who have dietary resrictions. Sabir and I often cook at home, but it is nice to occasionally have date night somewhere other than our dining room table. Our favorite types of restaurants for date night are intimate and very cozy. We try to find the mom & pop type of places that are hidden gems.
Below, you will find our top five favorite restaurants to attend for date night. All of the food is amazing and what makes these locations even better is that they have a great selection of menu items for vegans as well!
- Bread and Circuses
- Great Sage
- Tagliata
- Ambassador Dining Room
- Cypriana
BREAD AND CIRCUSES

We love Bread and Circuses! They are a small family-owned restaurant located in Towson. My dad and his girlfriend, Stephanie, introduced me to this place back when I was in college (feels like forever ago). The ambiance is very intimate, bohemian and quaint! My absolute favorite thing about Bread and Circuses is during the summer months, they play movies on their outside patio (which has a full bar and tables to have lunch or dinner). I usually get The Claude Nut and Berry salad and the maple glazed brussel sprouts. BUT if you eat meat, then you must must must try the filet mignon with the sweet potato mash. They are also known for their crabcakes and seafood. You will not be disappointed. My go-to drink whenever I visit is the “Sweet Fix,” which is rose water, elderflower, and champagne.
They are in the midst of expanding which is seriously so amazing. I cannot see what great things are to come!
Happy hour is from 3:30PM to 6:30PM.

Cuisine: Multi-Cultural

Great Sage is mine and Sabir’s FAVORITE (fully) vegan restaurant. Every time we have something to celebrate, we make reservations here! Even my non-vegan friends love this place. Their menu changes seasonally, so they don’t always offer the same thing (which is both a blessing and a curse). We LOVE Great Sage’s carrot cake, buffalo bites, mac and cheese, and honestly whatever main dish we order. The ambiance is very homey and the staff is warm and welcoming. They do have outside seating during the warmer months so make sure you put in a request to sit on the patio!
Closed Monday’s. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.
Every Thursday at 5:00PM, wine bottles are 1/2 price followed by live music from 8:00PM – 10:00PM.
Tagliata

Cuisine: Italian

Tagliata easily has some of the best pasta in Baltimore. The ambiance is sophisticated and the wine options are endless. My go-to is the rigatoni with their seasonal vegetables and either a spicy tomato sauce or garlic sautéed in olive oil. I’ve also had the roasted baby beets, asparagus bruschetta without cheese, broccoli rabe, and roasted mushrooms; all of which were outstanding. What makes this restaurant even more special is that they have a pianist every day of the week!
Happy hour is Sunday through Friday from 3:00PM to 7:00PM.
Ambassador dining Room
Hampden

Cuisine: Indian

Ambassador is one of our new finds and we are so happy to have come across this place! I am someone who loves Indian food, so whenever I find a restaurant that has a great Chana Masala, I continue to go back again and again. Finding the restaurant was a little confusing at first because it’s located in a hotel building. Just walk straight to the back and you’re there! We love this place because you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful garden view. They have a fireplace for the cooler months as well!
Closed on Monday’s and could not find a happy hour menu.
Cypriana

Cuisine: Greek / Mediterranean

Cypriana is also a new find for us! The owner, Maria, is so incredibly sweet and kind! Not only does she own the restaurant, but she is also the head chef! She came over to our table to say hello and we quickly learned that she was also a dog lover (of course we had to share photos of Ghost lol). The ambiance is very intimate and cozy. Since the plates are small and semi tapas-style, we ordered the hummus, falafel, grilled eggplant, and portabella mushrooms.
Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
If you have room for dessert, definitely check out Cinnaholic in Hampden. They have gourmet cinnamon rolls that you can customize. Yes, I think they are 100% better than Cinnabon!
