Protein powder is something that is a staple in my house. It is so diverse in a way that you can use it as a low-carb alternative to add flavor to almost anything. Morning shakes, oatmeal, pancakes, cookies, muffins – literally whatever you want!
I drink a protein shake almost everyday and it is not because I am lacking protein, it is because I have the worst sweet tooth! Instead of having ice cream or a milkshake everyday, I heavily depend on these powders to curb my cravings.
As a disclaimer, I do not drink protein shakes with just powder and water (meh). I add the below ingredients to my NutriBullet so that it has the consistency of a milkshake.
- 1 serving of protein powder
- 2 TBS of hemp seeds or chia seeds
- 1-1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk
- Handful of ice
- Handful of spinach [Sometimes]
Plant-based protein powders get a bad rep for tasting “too grassy” or just terrible overall. Not going to lie, when I first went vegan, it was difficult to weed out all of the bad flavors. Oh how I wish I stocked up on this seasonal flavor when it was on sale at Sprouts last year! This has to be my all time favorite protein. It taste exactly like a peppermint hot cocoa (duh!). I have actually made hot chocolate using this and it did not disappoint! During the wintertime, I need to have a warm drink before bed, whether it’s tea or hot cocoa. HOWEVER, I am not going to drink a sugar loaded, carb-full hot chocolate every night which is why this is the perfect alternative! I warm up some almond milk on the stove and add a scoop of this and mmm, it just puts you in the holiday spirit! Sadly, you can only get it on Amazon during the off season but once we get closer to Thanksgiving, keep a lookout for this!
